Fast and Furious? Hot and bothered!

Strong winds? Blaring sun? Bit of heat? Ah why not, let’s have all three!

Wednesday 24th May saw the first round of the Fast and Furious trio of competitions. A longstanding race held by Kidderminster and Stourport Athletics Club, the three rounds each see a speedy 5K dash around what is normally the cycling circuit used for crit (criterium) racing.

Laps of the circuit, consisting of some slopes, hairpin bends and long straights was the perfect challenge for those prepped and ready to go flat out.

Despite the glorious sunshine, a deceptive headwind took a hold on one of the straights, needing extra concentration from the runners on each lap.

Some amazing PB’s were had by us all despite the unusual conditions, and a great turn out for a late midweek event.

Ewan Shaw gets a huge round of applause from us all in getting 2nd place. Ewan is so light on his feet and a natural runner, we are very excited to see what the remainder of the year and his other events will bring! His first Fast and Furious round saw him clock in a superb 18:07. Toby Lloyd, another new face coming in closely behind with an incredible 18:24. Maybe we will see these two head to head in the next round?

The next round of the CMRC Championships takes place at 6:30pm at the Church Stretton running festival. A 10K with quite the climb….I wonder if you’ll be able to see your house from the top!!
