England Athletics Volunteer Awards

CMRC like many other running and athletics clubs are set up and run solely by volunteers. Every year England Athletics with whom we are affiliated, recognise this necessary and fantastic work by asking for nominations in the following categories:

            Contribution to Running

            Club Leader of the Year

            Club of the Year

            Coach of the Year

            Community Project of the Year

            Inspiring Official of the Year

            Newcomer to Volunteering

Services to Athletics and Running

CMRC received the Regional Club of the Year Award in 2018 and 2022. At the awards ceremony we were described as “A welcoming, friendly, and inclusive club with excellent coaches and almost 200 members, who all support each other in training, at park runs and at races. They work with the local community hub and have welcomed members who need company as well as regular exercise, enabling refugees from neighbouring towns to join for free, as well as supporting local school events and parading on Remembrance Day.”

Accepting the award, Lindsay said: “We were just so shocked and couldn’t believe that we’d actually, won it again. We are so proud of everyone in the club, and it was just so nice to hear us described as ‘ a wonderful example of what they look for in a club’.” England Athletics Head of Talent Sarah Benson was there, along with Luke Gunn, three times Commonwealth Games steeple chaser. Select company!

Nominations for 2023 are now open and close on 26th July. So if you want to nominate our wonderful club, leaders and coaches go to EnglandAthleticsAwards . Information about the categories and how to nominate can be found in the About Us section of their website.
